For good reason, lions are among the most recognizable creatures in Africa; more than any other, they represent bravery, strength, and power in the wild.
Lions are the least active of the great cats, napping or resting for up to 20 hours daily. You can find them dozing off in the shade or reclining on their backs with their feet up.

The lion is currently limited to Africa, with one exception, having formerly been found throughout Asia, Europe, and all of Africa. Sasan-Gir National Park in India is home to the only living Asiatic lions. The park was primarily established to safeguard the species. There are currently between 350 and 400 lions in the park.
Even though it is frequently called the “king of the jungle,” lions are only found in plains and meadows. The phrase could have referred to a less literal interpretation of the word “jungle” or originated from an inaccurate relationship between Africa and jungles.
